Review: The Haunting of Hill House

The Haunting of Hill House by Shirley Jackson My rating: 4 of 5 stars The Haunting of Hill House is a one masterpiece, truly Shirley Jackson was one of the best in writing horror novels. A haunted house with its own story, owned by a family who faced great peril in the early years of 1950s. A well written book that will get your attention and focus more on her words. The atmosphere and mood were perfect for a spooky book. And the four characters came to life even though it was a short book. The ending was explosive. I didn't see that coming. Loved it. 4/5 View all my reviews

Review: The Ex Hex

The Ex Hex by Erin Sterling My rating: 4 of 5 stars The Ex Hex is a romantic witchy novel with a little element of humor. The ambiance and mood of the book is perfect for the season. The Ex Hex is a story of Vivienne and Rhys both witches who met when they were young and break each other's heart and ended with a cursed. Storyline and characters were good but the plot was not strong enough. The ending was so so. Full of sexual tension between the characters. It has well balanced pace and was a fun read, indeed. 4/5 View all my reviews

It follows the story of Precious Ramotswe or known as Mma Ramotswe, as she open her detective agency and becomes the first woman detective in their place. It was a fun and easy read, learning more about the characters. Review: The Only One Left

The Only One Left by Riley Sager My rating: 4 of 5 stars The Only One Left is a thriller book with so many twist and turns. The story of the family murdered inside their home in 1929 was discovered by a caregiver named Kit through the remaining family member and the accused murderer. It was kinda slow at first, waiting for the revelations and untold secrets of the characters inside the mansion. I was not happy with the ending of Kit's father and Leonora, and the secret of Virginia. (view spoiler) [Who in their right mind will pretend to be invalid for a long time? (hide spoiler) ] The atmosphere and eerie mood was good as well as the mystery behind the murder. I was kinda confused with the storyline but still I enjoyed reading the book. View all my reviews

Review: The Maid

The Maid by Nita Prose My rating: 3 of 5 stars The Maid is a mystery thriller novel about Molly, who works as a Maid in a hotel. She was socially awkward, rely on facial cues to distinguish emotions and usually works alone. She was an outcast at work, but then got tangled in a mysterious death of a well known man, Mr. Black and drugs without her knowledge. Luckily, a friend of her deceased grandmother came to her rescue and caught the culprit. It was kinda slow at first but as you get to know Molly the Maid, you'll loved her and how she is meticulous at cleaning and small details. The storyline was good maybe there's missing some bit of explosion to the revelations but I totally enjoyed reading this book. 3.5/5 View all my reviews

Review: The House in the Pines

The House in the Pines by Ana Reyes My rating: 3 of 5 stars The House in the Pines is a psychological thriller about Maya who was haunted by her past. Unexplainable things happens to her when she was 17 year old, blank and forgotten time, and witnessing her bestfriend died with unknown cause. Maya, now an alcoholic and addicted to an anti anxiety drug decided to faced her past and to find out what really happens to her and that day. The storyline was intriguing but it doesn't have the explosion that it wanted the reader to experience. I was not happy with the ending but still I enjoyed reading this one. 3/5 View all my reviews

Review: The Housekeepers

The Housekeepers by Alex Hay My rating: 3 of 5 stars The Housekeepers is a historical fiction which bring us back to the 20th century. It has good storyline but I'm afraid it didn't quite work out well though it has potential. The Housekeepers follows the story of Mrs King, a housekeeper as she planned a heists in Park Lane. On the night when everyone was busy with the party throwed by the mistress the housekeepers was also busy looting the house dry. It was a good to be true heists but it lacks something. And the turns of event didn't surprise me at all. The author has potential maybe on his next book. It was also written well maybe just not my cup of tea. 3.5/5 View all my reviews

A Review: Happily Married by Victoria Jenkins

Happily Married By Victoria Jenkins  Psychological Thriller published on May 11, 2023 by Bookouture Happily Married is a 257 pages thriller read that will let you ponder and question the book title when you read the first few chapters. Happily Married is a story of Natalie and Jake, a married couple living in a farm. Everything seems perfect until the day when Natalie feels like Jake is cold toward her. She then confirmed that her husband, whom she knew almost the rest of her life was having an affair. You will never guess what will happen next. Then came the confrontation and the revelations of secrets that will change her life forever. Will she be able to survive everything? or will she be left with nothing?  I was confused at first due to multiple pov and some books usually put who's pov it is but as I read through it I figured why it is that way! There's always an answer in every thriller book. And I totally enjoyed reading and intrigued as I figure out the character...
